Irene L K Song

    Having completed the London LLB (External Programme) in 1995, Ms Irene Song joined Berjaya Leisure Berhad briefly from 1995-1996 as a Sales, Administrative & Marketing Executive gaining experience & exposure in sale & marketing in a developer’s office before joining the corporate and banking sector.

 

    From 1996 to 1998, Ms Irene Song joined Arab-Malaysian Finance Berhad (now known as AmBank (M) Berhad) as a Corporate Banking Officer while undergoing her CLP lessons part time. In Arab-Malaysian Finance (as it then was), Ms Irene Song’s duties included vetting of security documentation, ensuring that all security documentation for loans granted were in order and complied not only with the applicable  laws but with the guidelines policies and directives of the bank and Bank Negara Malaysia. She reported directly to the then managing director, Encik Mahdi Murad.

 

    Ms Irene Song's employment with Arab-Malaysian Finance has given her a greater insight as to the workings of financial institution and she has gained invaluable experience in the operational and administrative aspects of a financial institution which assist her invaluably when attending to legal matters for financial institutions.

 

    In May 1998 Ms Irene Song left Arab-Malaysian Finance Berhad, KL to venture into legal practice. She read in the chambers of Mr. Reginald Vallipuram of Messrs Reginald Vallipuram & Co. in Johor Bahru, a renowned and established litigation firm in Johor Bahru.

 

    Upon being called to the Malaysian Bar on 27th February 1999, Ms Irene Song joined Messrs David Chong & Co. (Johor Bahru) as a legal assistant from 1999-2001 before relocating to Kuala Lumpur with her family.

 

    Thereafter, Ms Irene Song was invited to join Messrs Jeff Leong Poon & Wong as a legal assistant from 2001-2005.

 

    Ms Irene Song’s area of practice remains until today in conveyancing and banking matters. In the course of her practice, Ms Irene Song has been entrusted with numerous types of property related documents and/or matters. Ms Irene Song is also familiar with commercial contracts like joint venture agreement, franchise agreement, distribution/agency agreements, partnership/shareholders agreement, settlement agreements etc. She is also familiar with will drafting and the application for grant of probate and letters of administration.   

 

   Ms Irene Song has handled loan documentation for Public Bank Berhad, United Overseas Bank (Malaysia) Berhad, AmBank (M) Berhad, OCBC Bank (Malaysia) Berhad, CIMB Bank Berhad, Citibank Berhad, Malayan Banking Berhad, Alliance Bank Malaysia Berhad, RHB Bank Berhad and Hong Leong Bank Berhad, including Islamic Banking through out her legal career.
